Sarah Beshay

Founder and Principal Barrister & Solicitor

Sarah is our founder and principal, who has been practising as a barrister and solicitor in New Zealand since 2017. Sarah has the following background and expertise to offer clients at Ergon Law:

  • A native Arabic speaker.

  • A Bachelor of Laws degree from Auckland University of Technology, a Masters Degree in Theological Studies from The Australian University College of Divinity and Certificate Level 3 in Tikanga from Te Wānanga o Aotearoa.

  • Generalist legal practice at both Waitemata Community Law Centre and Auckland Community Law Centre, two of the busiest community law centres in Aotearoa.

  • Specialist work as a barrister at Fleming Singleton Law (f.k.a David Fleming), a leading employment law firm in Tāmaki Makarau.

  • Panellist speaker at the NZ Christian Lawyers Conference 2025.

  • Co-presenter at the Brightstar Employment Relations Summit 2022.

  • Presented written and oral submissions at select committees, including the Education and Workforce Committee.

  • Governance experience as a board member and secretary for Ranui Action Project 2021 - 2023, a grassroots community development organisation in Ranui suburb.

  • A role model for Inspiring the Future Aotearoa 2024-2025, a programme for sharing careers with students at schools.

Ergon Sacred

Mainly inspired by a Judeo-Christian lens, we lead korero (talks) on the sacredness of work, including topics on:

  • The theology of work - (what is work? why do we work? why is work difficult? etc.)

  • What ancient texts, whakataukī (proverbs) and tohunga (experts) tell us about the meaning and purpose of work

  • The evolution and development of work amongst Te Tiriti (the Treaty of Waitangi) partners in Aotearoa

  • Finding your work vocation or calling, whether in a whanau (family), secular or ministerial setting

  • Exploring the pūrākau (stories) and teachings of inspirational workers within history

  • Balancing your mahi (work) within all the rhythms of life

  • How tane (men) and wahine (women) are biologically designed to work

  • Using our mana (influence) at work and our haumāuiui (achievements) for the flourishment of our hapori (communities)

  • What are the tika (right) ethics and practices at work, for our kaimahi (workers), rangatira (leaders) and hoariri (opponents)

Our presentations are provided in different formats catered to your needs, including lectures, facilitated discussions, small groups, karakia (prayers) and meditations etc. Topics can be requested to be presented from a Te Ao Maori perspective as well.
